Hi. I'm Jane.

I live in Hamilton, Ontario with my husband, Dan, and my loveable girl cat, Pedro. I work out of my home studio, making an assortment of art and jewelry from an ever changing mix of materials.

I've been fortunate to live in and travel through many parts of Canada. I was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Ottawa, Ontario. My experience of the diverse terrain and magnificence of Canada has always fed my curiousity and inspired my creativity.

After receiving my B.A. in History and English from Redeemer University College and doing graduate studies in English at the University of Waterloo, I worked in public relations at a local steel company for 11 years. I started as a writer, and eventually went on to be a video producer and an internal communications specialist. These roles - and the wonderful people with whom I worked - broadened my creativity immensely. And I was always inspired by the extraordinary heat, colour, sights and sounds of steel production that I got to see as I shot video all over the plant.

Since November 2012, I have worked full time out of my home studio, making art and jewelry. In my art, I use a variety of media and techniques, including metal work, printmaking, collage, painting, candy wrapper origami, paper carving and calligraphy. My aesthetic is motivated by simplicity, colour and texture. I like to rescue love-lorn items from thrift stores and give them new life as something else. And I like to make garbage into something more fun and beautiful, and most importantly, not bound for the landfill.
